Yarrow is a flowering perennial, common in North America but also native to Europe and Asia. Also called milfoil, its leaves are soft and highly segmented with a characteristic appearance that is almost feather-like. Yarrow grows stalks during the summer months, with a height that is dependent upon the seasonal rainfall. During dry years, these stalks may only grow a foot or two, preserving energy in its roots. Its bright yellow flowers are reminiscent of the sun and are traditionally harvested in the peak of summer between June and August. St. John’s wort has a long history of use in traditional Western herbal practices. Typical preparations include steeping as tea, oil infusion, and extract.
The most popular use of St. John’s Wort medicinally is for depression. Studies of various constituents of this herb suggest that there is indeed something to the claim of its effectiveness against mild depression. It does not seem to be at all effective against severe depression.

Crataegus laevigata is a large shrub native to Europe and a member of the Rosaceae family. Hawthorn leaf and hawthorn flower can be employed in much the same way as the berries and hold many similar beneficial properties. Also spelled, hawthorne, the leaf and flower can be steeped as hawthorn tea, added to cordials, or tinctured.
Hawthorn leaf, flower, and berry have been praised over the centuries for their heart elevating properties. Believed to uplift and strengthen both the physical and emotional heart, hawthorn, as it supports healthy cardiovascular function, was also revered for ceremonial and spiritual purposes.

Hawthorn flowers bloom around the first of May and have traditionally signified the first days of summer. Sprigs of hawthorn were incorporated into the Beltane festivals of ancient Europe celebrating this time of the year.

Instructions for infusion
Bring the herbs (2 tbsp. per 8oz of water) to a boil in a saucepan of water and reduce to a low simmer for 20-40 minutes. Strain the herbs and pour the infusion into your bucket, bath, or bottle for immediate usage. Wash your floors, windows, doors and handles to shift the energies.
Instructions for incense
Using a charcoal tablet, take a generous pinch of the herbs on place on the charcoal before you light it. Always use charcoal tablet tongs and never hold the charcoal as you light it. Make sure the charcoal is in a fireproof container.

Common Names: Stinging Nettle, Devil’s Claw, Devil’s Plaything
Stinging nettle, or Urtica dioica, is an herbaceous perennial that thrives in wet climates and moist soils. Nettles earn their name from the tiny hairs found on the leaves and stems that cause a stinging sensation upon contact with skin. Nettle leaves have long been used fresh as a wild food in spring and then dried for its beneficial properties.
The North American nettle leaves are organically cultivated in the United States and make a light brew when steeped as nettle tea or when added to an herbal infusion blend. Nettle leaves are harvested in the spring, once the plant has had time to mature but before it goes into flower.
Freeze-dried nettle tablets are useful for hayfever. Freeze-drying retains the sting chemicals which are helpful with allergic conditions.

Blackberries and the bramble tend to be associated with the fae, specifically Brigid. There is also biblical associations with Lucifer being cast from the Heavens, he landed upon a thorny bramble patch and cursed it. There became a superstition, where the fruit belongs to the devil and not you once Michaelmas occurs. This would be late September. There is a bit of truth to the cursed fruit, as by end of autumn, blackberries are prone to mold and will cause stomach illness.

Chamomile is commonly used as a tea for calming down or reducing stress.
It is also a gentle muscle relaxant, anti-spasmodic, and anti-inflammatory. It can be used, especially in combination with similar herbs, to soothe problems associated with muscle cramps and spasms. Especially useful for menstrual cramps. Drink two or three cups of tea per day.
Best to steep with boiling water for 6+ minutes to get the full affect. Pairs well with milk and honey.

Instructions for infusion
Bring the herbs (2 tbsp. per 8oz of water) to a boil in a saucepan of water and reduce to a low simmer for 20-40 minutes. Strain the herbs and pour the infusion into your bucket, bath, or bottle for immediate usage. Wash your floors, windows, doors and handles to shift the energies.
Instructions for incense
Using a charcoal tablet, take a generous pinch of the herbs on place on the charcoal before you light it. Always use charcoal tablet tongs and never hold the charcoal as you light it. Make sure the charcoal is in a fireproof container.

In the Iliad, Homer mentions that Hector’s body was anointed with rose oil after he was killed by Achilles. The Greek poet Anacreon says that the foam that dripped from the body of Aphrodite when she emerged from the sea turned into white roses, later, when she is mourning over the body of her lover Adonis, her tears turn a white rose red. Roses are also associated with Eros, another Greek love God. Sappho called the rose the Queen of the Flowers.
